I renamed these Cherry Vale cookies in honor of my father Joe.  He and my mother loved the singer Jerry Vale and would listen to him often and reminisce.  These little beauties are a combination of sweetness from the marischino cherries and light chocolate flavor from the semi-sweet chunks.  You will enjoy the flavor combination.  Send them to a special someone on Valentine's Day or to have in the house over the weekend when company is coming.
