Baking has been a part of my life since I was a child dragging a stool over to the counter to watch my mother and then have my own daughter do the same to me and hopefully, someday her daughter will carry on that same tradition of the love of baking. 

 

As a teacher for 25 years, I had the honor of teaching a Life Skills class.  It was those students who taught me the art of experimenting with recipes. Sometimes their fine motor skills were not as precise, so when we baked, extra vanilla might make it in to the batch or not enough brown sugar.  It was here that the perfect chocolate chip cookie was born.  By tweaking the original Toll House recipe, I was able to create a cookie that is buttery, soft and delicious.  I didn’t stop with just Chocolate Chip, I expanded to different varieties and found my niche.  I started selling cookies locally at farm markets and to family and friends.
